Good afternoon, everyone.
SPEAKER_01Three cock straight up on a Wednesday edition of OnQ as we're coming at you live inside the friendly confines of the SR 1029 F and the Game Studios. As always, I'm your host, Rich Canu, and it's very easy to get social with us, uh, as we typically do at RichQ OnQ. I G N X, TikTok RichQ on a mic. Hope everyone had a good sports Tuesday. You are enjoying your Wusa Wednesday edition of OnQ on this 22nd of April, 2026. Uh, a lot going on right now with the NFL draft uh tomorrow night. Lloyd Vance will join me tomorrow, so we'll go a little heavy with the draft. A lot of NBA news and nuggets and notes in the playoffs to get into Philadelphia 76ers get blown out in game one. Then they come back and they stun the Celtics in game two. The Knicks with the choke job. Uh, we won't have an opportunity to see them until tomorrow with their series, knotted up at one apiece against Atlanta. You had LeBron shining last night for the Lakers. You got Wemby out. So a lot of NFL, uh a lot of NBA. But I do want to, I wanted to mention a little bit of the uh Mike Grable finally speaking yesterday to the media, New England Patriots head coach Mike Grable, who addressed the media for the first time after pretty much hiding from the media and not wanting to talk about uh his little gallivation out with uh Dinah Rossini, who's no longer employed by the New York Times andor the athletic. Well, quote, resign. But it's interesting because this is a man, this is a head coach, right? And listen, I don't believe a word out of his mouth. I don't, I really don't. I think he's a friggin' fraud. And the fact that you had difficult, you know, as I call them, courageous conversations with people you care about, your family, the organization, the coaches. You refuse to take questions on the matter, which told me everything I need to know. A couple weeks ago that was laughable. Now it's not. And let's just call for what it is. You got caught with your hand in the cookie jar. That's it. You got caught with your hand in the cookie jar. You had an affair, like man up. I mean, where there's so much smoke, there has to be fire. And it's funny because he's talking yesterday, and he's mentioning he could have addressed the media prior to wanted to wait a little bit, wanted to get to the players first, and then all of a sudden the players had questions about the story. You wanted to kind of minimize distractions heading into the draft. Come on, man. It's a PR spin. That's all that is. It's a flat out PR spin. And what's alarming is like the coward, you know, the coward way out, to be quite honest with you, right? Coward's way out. And that's exactly what he did. Did not hold himself accountable at all, never really addressed the matter at all, you know, danced around it, didn't take any type of questions, and you got some of the media and the Patriots that refused to ask questions. So it's like, come on, what are we doing here? And he basically, I'm not feeling bad for her, but he totally threw Roussini under the bus. I mean, there's there's you can't you can't escape that. Totally under the bus. Just there you go. And I believe I don't believe she's ever gonna get another job. Now she'll probably do her podcast, YouTube, whatever, but literally just threw her under the bus. That's all there was. That that's really all that was. And you can talk about the draft right around the corner, you can talk about the storylines, but you know, you just didn't even acknowledge, you don't even bring her name up. So that's that's where the criticism is. Because all these pictures circulate on social media with you a head coach of the New England Patriots, and once again, right? Uh, not even the standard my ass leader of men. I mean, think about the crap that franchise has gone through spy gate, the flake gate, massage gate, now this crap. And you got the NFL reporter and Roussini, doesn't even dress her by the name, basically glosses over it. And now you're looking it's pretty clear when when you find old tweets that she's reporting that the Titans are not interested in Tom Brady, they're gonna resign Ryan Tannehill, and he happens to be the head coach at the time, you just know. Like it's utterly ridiculous to crack a bull, but you know, BS that he's throwing out there. You know, to be successful on and off the field, you gotta make good decisions. Starts with him. You never want your actions to negatively affect a team, cause a distraction. You caused a distraction. You did. You did. It's pretty clear you're cheating on your wife. It's pretty clear you're not holding yourself accountable. It's pretty clear that there was probably a little pillow talk. So do I feel for either one of them? Pardon me. No, I don't. Do I feel for Diana, uh, Diana Rossini? No, of course not. Because I think the way she allegedly went about getting information and insight and gathering the intel is lowbrow. But again, you know, you want to talk about handling it as well as you can handle it, and handling it the way he handled it, he threw her under the bus. He threw her under the bus. Like, when you sit there and say, I've had some difficult conversations with people I care about, that tells you right now that girl's trip was a croc. A crop, a BS. That's the implication. Right? Because, like I said, if you run into somebody that you're not supposed to run into, and it's a coincidence, that's one thing. But if you quote, run into someone that happens to be in the same spot you're at, and the stories don't mesh, they don't jive, that pretty much tells you everything you need to know. Oh, you were just at the hotel. Oh, you just happened to run into uh uh each other, you know, uh belly to belly, coincidentally. I mean, come on, man. He's basically saying, no girls' trip. We met up, we had an affair, and we got caught with our hand in a cookie jar. She's out of a job, and I'm on the hot seat here because everyone's looking at me, and I'm supposed to be holding people accountable, and the perception and narrative is I'm a fraud. Yeah, 100%. Bingo, you nailed it, got it, done. Yep. It's exactly what you are a fraud. Absolute fraud. And the media that glosses over it is embarrassing. It's embarrassing. It's absolutely embarrassing that they just basically gloss over it. That's all. Let me get to some of these comments, Joey. Uh Joey B, question why are you still Joey B the real salad? Or be the real Oh, Joey B the real lad. All right, there we go. Uh, cue with the Adidas sweatshirt covered up in the house. Looks like you need some chicken noodle soup, gingeril, and the price is right on. No, no sick day. It's allergies. I'm fine. It's not no, no sick day. No, no, we're good. It's just ridiculous allergies. That's all. That's all that is.
unknownThe price.
SPEAKER_01Do you remember too? Those commercials that um those trucking commercials. Remember those? Those great crush uh trucking commercials that we used to see at like 11 o'clock when you were home from sick, right? When you were you were sick and you were home. Uh double duty today, the voices on the frisk. Yeah, I mean, listen, they got the hoops later on, voices on the fritz, we're all good. Uh, my Joey B handle doesn't show up anymore in the YouTube shows. I have no idea what happened. We gotta look into this because it could be a conspiracy cooking and brewing. It really could. Tom and Summers Point, Q. I like how you go 10 minutes without even friggin' talking about my Sixers. You know, Tom, go away. I don't want to deal with you today. Yeah, the Sixers, which I were I was going to get into, gotta win. And it's funny too, because you gotta give them credit. They get their doors blown off in game one. They go on the road shorthanded in Boston, they beat them by 14. Defensively, they made plays. They did. Defensively, they clogged the middle, they clogged the lanes, they did a good job, even though Brown went off for 36. But don't for one second tell me right now you're buying in and a six or Nick Nurse. After game one, you wanted a fire, you wanted them gone. I told you, worst case scenario is you stretch the series out to five and it's competitive. That's the worst case scenario. Because now the belief, the mindset is you're gonna try to run it back. Why would you want to do that? That's embarrassing. Why would you want to do that? They're not gonna win this series, they're gonna get their doors blown off. You know it, and I know it. Now, my Knicks are in trouble. My Knicks are in trouble. My Knicks, again, basically spit the bit because that's what they friggin' do in game one. Bad job, NBC. Thanks for showing a friggin' timeout that didn't exist. The Knicks are in trouble. And I told you I didn't like this matchup at all. And don't sit there and tell me I was uh uh uh duck diving dodging because they lost and I didn't come on the air. That's ludicrous. They lost. Their last possessions were horrible. I'm worried about Jalen Brunson. I don't like this series, and I think they might lose it. It's not about being salty, coming on the air. Just stop. Stop. Now, see, this is unbelievable. I'm not, we're not going that we're not going this route, right? Q telling the listeners to go away, the most Jersey thing I've heard on the internet today. It's not even about go away. It's like come come back another day. Because I don't want to deal with this nonsense today, to be quite honest with you. It's a friggin' Wussaw Wednesday. We're 11 minutes in the show, and I'm already pissed off. I'm already pissed off. Joey B thinks I need the noodle soup because my voice is shot. It comes with the territory, man. 10 hours on air, eight hours on air, back to back-to-back jacks, calling games all over the place, Joey. You need to fix your handle. That's number one. I don't want to hear from Sixers fans today. I'll have to have my fresh roasted, my fresh roasted coffee. I don't. I'll give them credit where credit is due, but don't act like all of a sudden they turn the corner. They're a legit franchise. Why? Because they gotta, well, I think John, even Jonathan Marshall's texted me googly eyes last night watching this crap, and the Knicks are imploding. I don't need to hear from Jonathan Marshall, who I think's coming on tomorrow. But I don't need to hear from them. I don't. That's great. You got a little drama in the NBA playoffs. You got a little adversity with some of these teams. Edgecombe was uh an absolute beast. Kid played exceptionally well. But this team collectively as a whole, you're not gonna get that production again. You're not, you're not gonna get Maxie to have 29, Edgecombe to have 30, and Paul George to have 19, all in the same friggin' game. It's not happening. And they're certainly not gonna hit close to 50% from beyond the arc. So, Tom, Jodie, Sarg, you want to say I'm being salty, I'm being bitter because the Knicks lost and the Sixers won? Whatever. Whatever. You're not hitting frigging 50%, okay, tomorrow night against the Celtics. It's the NBA. Teams make adjustments. That's what they do. I will credit the Sixers for a win. This series is over. I told you. Gentlemen's sweep, five games. Book it, mark it down. I don't even care if Luca Brazzi pops his little whack-a-mole head in, it's done. Celtics are not losing to the friggin' Philadelphia 76ers. Not happening. At all. Salty Q, he said Boston would win game too easily. Also, Salty Q, he didn't want to broadcast yesterday. I mean, that's that's absurd. That's uh no you're you're basically saying I'm ducking, and that's not the case. I was on the road, I had other commitments. What are we talking about here? It's unbelievable with this nonsense. I don't I don't need to come on the air on my show inside the friendly confines of our remote SR1029, the game studios, or whatever Angel wants to call it right now, and I have to deal with this stuff. All right, MBA, NFL. Uh you got the draft tomorrow night. I think it's gonna be a very busy first round with trades. We'll dive into that. Don't forget, hashtag onQ. We got you guys covered for a little bit on this Wusa Wednesday edition, powered by our good friends over at Fresh Roasted Coffee, three Brooks Bourbon, get ready with tea. I see the comments coming in, and I also see them on X. And I'll tell you what. Six Hard fans, troll away. Troll away. Troll away. That's fine. I have no problem with that. I got Raj in Boston saying Q. Now you're calling out to Boston Media. I'm basically saying they were gutless. That's kind of what I'm saying. You can't have a coach sit up there, stand up there, and you're not you're not fire back. Gutless. Yes. And he threw her right under the bus. Right under. All right, 15 past three clock hour on the East Coast, cranking up on a Wednesday edition on Cube. Quick timeout. We'll get to your comments on the other side, even the ones that don't make sense. We'll take you up to about four on a Wednesday. Welcome back, everyone, to a Wednesday edition of OnQ. Rich Canyon is here. I am, I am absolutely again hammered, pounded today. Not good stuff by you guys. We went, what, 11 minutes in on the Wussaw Wednesday, and I'm already kind of aggravated. Hey, listen, I I told you, right, that if you really, really, really, really, really think about this, right? Just think about this for a moment. You've got the NFL draft tomorrow. I just find it bizarre, right, that Rabel comes out on a what Tuesday with the draft on a Thursday. And it's almost like you're trying to uh do a little bit of um uh you know deflection, as me and my friends like to say. He's deflecting because he doesn't want anyone to kind of deal with this or ask questions. It's it really is it is madness if you think about it. It is. My god, I mean the comments today already. What what what what what is going on? What's so funny? What do you got there, man, man? What do you got, triple DQ? What do you what do you got? Triple D what? What did I say, triple D? Triple what? Did I say three-pointer? Right? Pittsburgh, the most dumb, insignificant town city for the draft. I don't get it. Wow. I mean, Joey, that's you're I mean, that's Steel City. What are we doing here? You know? What's that beer? What's that beer they have in Pittsburgh? Is that Schlitz? What is that? Iron River, whatever the hell it's called. At least the Yankees beat the horrible Sox. Yeah, the Red Sox. I mean, man, man, you know, you you gotta stop. Bill Bittake. Good call. Good call with the uh Silicon Valley thus far. I don't need any soup. It's just I don't need any wedding soup either, Joey. I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't even know what I don't even know what godfather referenced. I don't even know what I said. All I said is they've done, you know, like I don't even know what it was. What godfather reference, please. Let me know what godfather reference I threw out there. What is it? I work with Mike Rabel. Your father knew Mike Rabel, he respected him, but he never trusted him. I don't know. When will Angel Martinez make an appearance on the show? It's a good question. I have no idea. Angel is somewhere doing God's work. He's somewhere doing God's work. I I can't answer that. I wish I had an answer. I don't know. He is doing God's work, he's all over the place. And I mean it's bad enough. You know, you leave him a message or two, kid doesn't want to get back to you. I don't know. I have no idea what's going on. He's probably driving around listening right now on the Odyssey app. Call him out. Let's do it. You know, I want to be able to talk to him about what's going on with Dallas and Slim Pickens. Oh, told you that Tomlin's going to the booth, right? I can't wait for Mike Tomlin to start doing friggin' picks and predictions. I'll probably go nine and eight. So he's going to be an NBC studio analyst. Uh, let me see. Uh, Pat's fan six chimes and Q. I don't know why you're pissing all over New England. You know it's the model franchise. So what? The guy had an affair with a reporter, get over it. I mean, what where do I mean where where do you want to start? The guy had an affair with a reporter, get over it. Okay. I got you. But yet, let's not address that. Let's not address that. You know, basically what he said, he insinuated the difficult conversation is what? You had an affair. You're not having a difficult conversation if you're like, oh, I ran into Suzy at the friggin' acme. That's not a difficult conversation to tell to your wife. Did you meet Susie at Acme and then decided to maybe drive off to a little, you know, uh fly by night, rent by the hour hotel for three or four hours. You come home late, disheveled, you forget to pick up the kids after practice, no pizza in hand. That's a difficult conversation. Not this. Not you bumped in, you ran into somebody. So he pretty much is telling you he had an affair or something happened, but then basically saying, again, the optics, the optics basically look like you're cheating on your wife. And that creates all the drama and all the distractions. Those are part or difficult conversations you have in your life. I mean, I don't know, I'm not married, but I would imagine if a husband had to have a difficult conversation with his wife after photos of said husband came out with someone who's not his wife. What does that mean? Like, how do you take that? Is my point. Like the optics are horrible. So Pat's fan six or whatever the hell your friggin' handle is, get a grip. Come back to reality. That's that that is the reality of it. And when the media doesn't go after him, that's gutless. When the PR, when you know uh the Patriots tried to stop print publications, tried to stop. Photos from getting out tried to stop the story from getting out. That's a horrible look. Don't tell me these are leader of men, this franchise. I told you. Spy gate, the flake gate, and a freaking massage gate. Now you got caught with your hand in the cookie jar gate. Mike Grable. Who literally, literally threw her under the bus. Threw her under the bus. Threw her under the bus, backed it over on top of this woman sixteen times. So I don't want to hear that. Maybe someone called you this. I'm done. Duck duck dodge dive. Yes. I thought it was duck. Duck dive duck. Or dodge dive duck. He was fantastic. Who was that? Patches O'Toole? You know who was great in that movie? Jason Bateman. He was phenomenal. He was absolutely phenomenal in that movie doing the uh play-by-play. Remember him? Remember Jason Bateman? Uh Gary Cole was Cotton McKnight. Jason Bateman was Pepper Brooks. That was a great movie. Great cast. Ah. That was a phenomenal cast. Dodgeball was a great movie. They need to come out with a dodgeball too. Great movie. A little Chuck Norris scene at the very end. So duck dive dip. Yeah. All right. So you got the NFL. Last night I mentioned the NBA. Yes, good win by the Philadelphia 76ers. Definitely give them credit where credit is due. But I'm not going to go all Google Gaga now over the franchise. I thought what was more impressive last night, not the Sixers going to Boston and winning because it's a make or miss league. But how about the Lakers on LeBron James? And I pie on LeBron a lot. I think LeBron at this point or the last several years has now just been a compiler. But right now, they're up 2-0 on the Rockets. And it's not like it'll blow you away the stat line. Okay. But for someone that's 40-41, for LeBron James to play 29 minutes, go 8 of 20, 28 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 block. I mean, he was phenomenal. He was phenomenal. Smart, phenomenal. Kennard, phenomenal. Kevin Durant, fraud, front runner. I'm over Kevin Durant. I'm just over Kevin Durant, man. I don't, you know, this whole notion, and I feel foolish because I had the Rockets winning the series. I thought the Rockets defensively would make a deep run here. But I'm just over Kevin Durant. The biggest friggin' front runner of all time. He really is. The biggest, the biggest, can't beat him, gotta join him, can't beat him, gotta join him, can't beat him. Everywhere he's gone, right? OKC, then Golden State, I gotta jump to Golden State. I don't, you know, win a ring, not happy. Here we go. Let me jump to um a Brooklyn. The big three never worked out. Now to Phoenix, now to Houston. The Rockets are in trouble. That's very clear. They're in trouble. Wemby, concussed. That was a horrible, nasty fall last night. And at insult injury, the Spurs lost the game. And Jonathan Marshall said Portland could be a sneaky team. They can be a sneaky team. Now, you lose him. He only lasted 12 minutes. You lose him for a stretch of time. I mean, if you're diagnosed with the concussion, you're going to have tests today. I would venture to guess right now. Now, you catch a break because they don't play Thursday. They do play Friday. And right now they're still favored by one and a half. But they can ill afford to lose, arguably, you know, your top 2-3 player in the NBA. Kevin Chimes in Q. I was a little disappointed that you weren't on the air. I would have loved to heard your rant yesterday on our Knicks. There's really nothing to say. That's a bad loss by the Knicks, but I'm used to those bad losses by the Knicks come playoffs. I really am. Their last series was an embarrassment. It really was. And McCullum was on fire and he misses the free throws, and they still had a shot to win this game. CJ McCullum had 32 points. Now, this is where I will argue with some people. A 12-point lead in the fourth quarter, and you relinquish a 12-point lead to me doesn't constitute a collapse. It doesn't. It does not constitute a collapse. If it's 19 with 6 to go, that's a collapse. 12 with 3 to go, that's a collapse. Listen, the Knicks just they did what I feared they were going to do. They did exactly what I thought they were going to do. And that's why I thought this was going to be a tricky series for the Knicks. When it gets tight, you worry. Their bench is very thin. It's not, I mean, listen, Atlanta, you know, they had players coming off the bench. I think they had 36 total bench points. You know, Johnson has the bucket with 10 seconds left. And that game pretty much put him out of reach. Listen, the Knicks had the number of 41 in the postseason, right? When you go by leading him by 12 or more after three quarters. And I know, trust me, vividly, game five, Indiana, Reggie Milley, Eastern Conference Finals, here we go. The young players of the Hawks had fresh legs. They played exceptionally well. The problem with the Knicks, which I believe is going to be a problem throughout the duration or however long this series happens to go. I just don't trust Carl Anthony Towns. You know, Bridges playing 37 minutes and only 10 points, not good. And the brunt the the brunt of the offense. Jalen Brunson is a great scorer, but he's a defensive liability. 10 of 26. I mean, they could not shoot from beyond the arc. They couldn't. I think they made nine or ten free um uh three-pointers, right? And then the other thing is look, you got to be able to knock down your free throws. In a one-point loss, you're 17-27 from the line. And Atlanta missed five. They kept you in the game, too. The Knicks are gonna bounce back, but I I don't I this series to me is gonna be a long series. You got the Magic and Pistons tonight, you got the Suns and the Thunder as well. Let me creep in a couple more of these comments. Patriots fans are not happy with me. Uh that's fine with me. Uh-blah bah. Glenn EHT, cute. Did you see what CJ Gardner Johnson said about AJ Brown ripping the Philly fan base? Yeah, I don't care about that. I really don't. I mean, they're fans. They're always going to be critical. You know it and I know it. Now, what'll be interesting is is there a is there a trade tomorrow night involving AJ Brown? Or, as we mentioned, is it the date where you can save money, right? That post-June 1st, right? That trade, post-June 1st trade. After June, because now you'll split about 40 million, a cap hit over two years. So the dead money goes down. I think tomorrow's gonna be a busy night in the NFL. I do think you're gonna see some first round uh trades, teams trading back. I think you're gonna see a little bit of madness. Uh, as the Giants sit at five and then ten. The more I kind of break this down, I think they go defense first. Now, would I be disappointed if the Giants went defense five and ten? I would. I believe they needed another playmaker. I don't believe you draft a running back at five. I think they're gonna go with the kid styles, or they're gonna go with an edge rusher. The kid, uh the linebacker out of Ohio State, Sonny Styles. And then at 10, do you go defense? You go secondary again, do you go safety, or do you get Jackson Dart another weapon? Because I don't believe that the kid from Clemson is gonna be there. I don't believe he's gonna be on the board. I think, if anything, I'm sorry, Ohio State. Um, pardon me, Ohio State. I think Washington grabs Carnell Tate at seven, which now the Giants got to go for a backup plan, another weapon. But offensively, they got to figure out some weapons to get Jackson Dart. They really do. They have to. They have to because you can't go, you lose uh Robinson who who signs the money and goes to Tennessee, okay? Uh, you know, neighbors coming off the injury, you know, uh likely he's gonna be a player. Obviously, you get Scataboo back. You know, you've you've got talent, right? You're trying to fix that offensive line, but I still believe defense is gonna be the key for the Giants going forward. That's gonna be their identity. And they need edge rushers, they need pass rushers. I also believe it's a foregone conclusion. Fernando Mendoza goes to number one. I just don't see the Raiders doing anything other than drafting this kid. And they have so many draft picks, they really do. They have a boatload. The Raiders, if they're smart, you draft this kid, which they should and will at number one. I mean, they don't even need to do, you know, the clock, just speed up the process, go to round uh the second pick, and then they're gonna go defense. And maybe I think they have a 66 or 67th pick, right? They have a late, late, late. Then you turn around and um, you know, maybe you go offense. But to me, it's a foregone conclusion how you know the first couple picks are gonna play out tomorrow. Uh, Landry Chimes and Q. I'm not gonna sit there and tell you that there's drama back in the NBA like you alluded to, but I think it it bears worth watching right now. If these series are elongated, then you know the uh broadcast, uh the eyeballs are gonna be there. Um I didn't like. Did you guys watch the broadcast last night? Amazon Prime? Were you thrilled by it? I wasn't. I mean, that's just the way I look at it. I wasn't. Uh Q, did you see that? Your guy Joe Buck is gonna host ESPN Jeopardy. That's from JB. Uh, I did not. Um, okay. I mean, what's that gonna be on uh Disney and Hulu, right? So I don't know. We're gonna argue now that you know Joe Buck's too old for that. Was he 57? So now you're gonna talk to me about 18 to 24 market. I can just see it already. Darren Rubel is probably gonna tweet that crap out because that's all he does. But no, I did not see that. Uh Brandon Chimes in Q. I think the Giants should go defense first and foremost, then maybe grab a playmaker at 10. Yes. I agree. Kevin Chimes back in Q. Any chance that they trade both picks? No, not happening. Nope, not at all. Not happening. You you can ill afford to do that if you're the Giants. There are some teams that are gonna hold on to these picks. I mean, listen, there's gonna be buzz. There's going to be buzz. Now, I I believe one of the more interesting picks would be number two. Like, what are the Jets gonna do? Because, you know, the Jets got to go defense. I think they're gonna go defense, and if they decide to go with, say, the linebacker Reese, okay, then you gotta walk it back for a second. I'm not gonna say follow me. You gotta walk it back for a second. Now, all of a sudden, love's gonna go to the Titans. I just see the Titans drafting a running back. Arizona now, all of a sudden, has that number three pick. If the Jets go Reese, he's off the board. Now, what direction is Arizona? Arizona is not gonna grab Ty Simpson. They're not gonna make that type of stretch at number three, so they're gonna have to pivot. This is what happens when one player is that domino effect in the draft. That's the beauty of the draft. You know, you've got your backup, you got your plan, you've got your, you know, best available down the road, and then what happens if I don't get right the player that I want, and then turn around. Uh AB Chimes and Q, did you see that in Boston they are uh kind of going back and forth over the Rabo Roussini story saying that the media is inflating it? Not at all. You just can't. It's a shtick, seriously. I mean, come on. No, nobody, no, nobody cares what they're talking about there because you know it's all about Raybo. I don't care. All I'm saying is that the draft is tomorrow, and whatever he's trying to do is just kind of cast that aside. That's the problem. It's the timing of everything. That was a calculator move by the Patriots. Have him talk on a Tuesday, Wednesday, little soft day, everyone prepares for the draft. People think they're gonna forget about it come Friday. That's all that was. That's all that was. That's it. And you can break it down all you want. The bottom line is she resigned from the job. They got caught with their hand in the cookie jar. And for a man that holds himself accountable and tries to hold other people accountable, he's a freaking fraud. I think that's, you know, kind of where we're at. I don't know. Maybe I'm wrong. Franchise chimes in cue. Do you think Brown's gonna get traded after the draft? Um, I think, yeah. I mean, we just kind of talked to a franchise. Eagles are moving AJ Brown. Now, is it the right decision? You know, when I asked Lloyd, I said, is this a scenario where AJ Brown's just not happy with his role in the offense, or AJ Brown's not happy with his role in the offense as a Philadelphia Eagle? There's two different things. Now, does their offense take a step back without AJ Brown? 100%. 100%. Yeah. AJ Brown is an all-pro wide receiver. Is Jalen Hurts going to be better off without AJ Brown? I don't know. Is it gonna put more pressure on the ground game? I believe so. I really do. But again, the offseason, it's exactly that. It is the off-season. You prepare for this. Players get cut, released, traded, they're disgruntled, they forced their way out. The one thing that I will say about the Philadelphia Eagles, and this it is true, you know, they do the plug-and-play. They've done a Eagles have always done a good job. Like, I can't sit there and say, when was the last time the Philadelphia Eagles traded a player, you know, or cut released a player, and you know, then he went off and had like an all-pro career. I'm talking over the last 15 years, 10 to 15 years. That that's what I'm talking about. 10 to 15 years. Like typically, they don't really drop the ball when it comes to this. They don't. They know when players hit a certain age, they understand there's no value in them anymore. They cut them, they release them. And and by the way, you know, don't give me Reggie White in '93 because he was a free agent. Remember, God told him to go sign with the Green Bay Packers. So I can't recall Eagles trading players away, and you're like, man, that guy's really making an unbelievable impact. I mean, look, players go on and have good careers, and I'm sure AJ Brown will turn around, right? And and he will still have a good career. Uh I never obtained the elusive cookie. I mentioned you and Angel a couple years ago. Just an update. What cookie was that? Ah, that cookie. Not the black and white cookie. We might put that up there for a minute. See if the Q crew recalls that. I recall that conversation. That was when you were piling on the Friday afternoon uh entertainment jokes. Were you not? So yeah, whatever C Day Gardner Johnson says, I mean, I don't really uh put too much stock in it. I don't. I really don't. Uh Mathis chimes in. Q, any word on what's going on with the Steelers and Aaron Rodgers? Um, nothing. Aaron Rodgers is pretty much Aaron Rodgers is doing exactly what Brett Favre used to do. Aaron Rodgers did it with the Packers, Favre did it with the Packers, both quarterbacks respectively, then went to the Jets. It didn't work out, even though Rodgers, um, you know, his one play, Brett Favre, at least I think went eight and three in 11 games to start the season, then his arm was like a noodle, and they spit the bit. But if I'm Pittsburgh, if you're far uh Farve, if you're Rodgers and you're McCarthy, you're like, look, here's a playbook, here's the offense, you know it, run it back. What are we waiting for? The problem is that's not what Aaron Rodgers does. Aaron Rodgers basically holds uh franchises hostage. I mean, Mike Tomlin, you know, probably the best decision. You're not around anymore. Because I don't think you would have the patience for it. I really don't. It makes sense. I was pretty adamant when Lloyd came on. I think it was after the season. And I mentioned to him that I mentioned, I mentioned to him that I thought Aaron Rodgers was done. But the more I kind of take a step back and I think about it, I can't envision a scenario where Aaron Rodgers thinks to himself, this is exactly how he wants his career to end. He's just older, doesn't want to put in the time, just wants to show up. And I get it. Players do that. Michael Stranhan did it. You hold out, you show up, you don't practice as much after the fact. Um, so I'm leaning towards Aaron Rodgers coming back. But with all that being said, you know, you think about the landscape in the AFC, especially in the AFC North, and think about the quarterbacking position in that division right now. Okay, you've got Lamar Jackson not going anywhere in Baltimore. You have Joe Burrow that they're trying to appease him, hence they traded for Dexter Lawrence in a steal, a trade that the Giants fleeced Cincinnati. So they don't have a first-round pick, Cincinnati. Okay. They got fleeced. But they're trying to appease Joe Burrow. We understand we got to fix the defense. So Burrow is still an all-pro, all-world quarterback. Then you look at the other two teams. Right now, Pittsburgh, we don't know who their starter is going to be. And Cleveland, we still don't know who their starter is going to be. This was a 5-12 team, and you saw a little glimpse of Sanders. You still have Gabriel on the roster, and you still have the Abatros and Deshaun Watson. So if I'm Mike McCarthy, my pitch is listen, I don't need you to be Aaron Rodgers, you know, 2011. Hell, I don't need you to be Aaron Rodgers 2020, 2019 Aaron Rodgers. I don't need that from you. I need you to come in and just be at this stage of your career, just a game manager. Let's run the football, we'll open it up from time to time. We can compete with these guys and just don't lose us to game. Just don't lose us to game. Look, if you go back a couple years ago, 2021, Aaron Rodgers threw for 4,100 yards, 37 touchdowns, and four picks. And then he got old, and then he had a little bit of the drop off. But still. Even with the Jets, that second season, right? His second and only, right? The two with the Jets after tearing the Achilles, uh, two offensive plays in. 3,900 yards, 28 touchdowns, 11 picks. I think Pittsburgh would take that and 10 wins. So I don't believe Aaron Rodgers wants to retire. I don't think Aaron Rodgers wants to go out the way he went out. All right, 344, quick timeout. We'll get back to the NFL.
SPEAKER_00A little more uh hoops talk as well.
SPEAKER_01All right, so I mentioned the NFL draft tomorrow, Lloyd Vance tomorrow, Jonathan Marshall, you got the NBA, good win by the Sixers last night. It gives you a little encouragement, as I mentioned. Um a little bit, right? So now, you know, the question is uh can they maintain that? Can they pull another rabbit out of the hat and get a win? And quite frankly, you go and you beat the Celtics in game three and you put pressure on them to one, well, yeah, then that is a different type of um that's you know now now you got a series. Now you got a series. I don't think that's gonna be the case, though. I don't. I just can't see the 76ers shooting almost 50% from beyond the arc. I really can't. They did an excellent job last night, and also they clogged the lane, the interior defense, even late in that game. Phenomenal, fantastic job. But it's very hard to hold down that Celtics offense, right? They did not shoot particularly well. No, Derek Roy Derek White looks washed. He does. Tatum was off, you know, Brown had the 36, best player on the floor. Um, but you got to get more from Tatum, and you got to get more from the bench, and they really didn't get anything. Well, Pritchard, I should say. Pritchard, um, you know, 27 minutes. I need, you know, more than four points. I need more than minus 15 on the floor when you're out there. Sixers did well. Sixers had a nice win last night, and they got production off the bench. Drummond um played 26 minutes. He contributed. He gave them, he gave them pretty much a double-double. You know, Grimes gave him a little bit, Edwards gave him a little bit. They did a good job. And they get to win 111-97. I still don't think it's gonna be CSGO. Just Boston's too talented, they're too good. Sometimes you just don't match up well, right? Sometimes you just don't match up well. And you also got it is a make or miss league. So the chances are we're not gonna shoot as well going forward, but they got the win. And as I mentioned, uh Nick Nurse coached him up last night, and he's been under fire. You know, it's kind of strange, right? Because in Philly, Siriani's under fire and he won a Super Bowl. Nurse is under fire. And you see what's going on with the Philadelphia Phillies, and Rob Thompson basically got a he got a vote of confidence. He got a vote of confidence that they're not going to uh fire him, and I'm a little surprised by that. I really am. Dombrowski came out. Hey man, he's not going anywhere. Their offense stinks and they're struggling. Wheeler is coming back, which would be a nice pickup, obviously. Pick me up from the starting rotation. But 18, 8 and 15 stretch to start the season, not as bad as the Mets. You know, you judge a team. I I've said this. NBA, you start to get involved right around Christmas time. In baseball, you got to give me at least 30 games. And right now we're sitting at 22. But this is a bad baseball team right now, the Phillies are. Offensively, they stink. And the Mets are no better. The Mets have lost 12 in a row. The Phillies have lost seven in a row, combined 19 in a row. The Braves are already. See, here's where you get in trouble when you have these slow Aprils and May. You find yourself 7, 8, 9 games back. Now it's not insurmountable. Because I don't envision the Braves playing at a 667 clip, but I told you they were going to get better. I didn't like the Phillies to win a division. I didn't even think the Phillies were going to win 90 games. That's on the record on the show when we are doing our over-unders. And Washington's hanging around, and the Marlins are, you know, playing good baseball. They're 500 for a young team with a small payroll. But giving the manager a you know, vote of confidence this early, I just don't know. I just don't know if that's smart. Right? Because now you're basically saying we're not making a move. And we're struggling. Not judging Alex Corr on his wins, but I'm judging him on his losses, and they are friggin' ugly losses. It's been a bad start for the Boston Red Sox. And I will say this if you are a Sox fan, as you are, think about how they started the season. They couldn't get out of their own way. I mean, it was bad. What were they? One and ten. So now he's won six of his last eight. Boston's nine and fourteen. Uh, yeah, is he on the hot seat? I think the seat's warm. And remember, too, man, man, it's all about roster construction, right? And if they don't, look, they got to pick it up. But I don't see a change right now with the Boston Red Sox. And I think it's more tied to the roster construction, which was done by the front office than by core. Now, yeah, you get tagged with these wins or losses, and some of these games are ugly. Right? I mean, look at that series against Detroit. Yeah, they split 2-2, but in the two games that they lost, they scored three runs. They got blanked by the Yankees the other day. They got shut out by the Yanks. I think Boston only had four hits. But it is very early in the baseball season. But the reason I brought up Thompson and Mendoza, respectively, is because the expectation of those teams, those franchises. That's the only reason I brought it up. I mean, the Mets, how are you? If you are Cohen right now, and you're looking at what this team is doing, and it's bad. I mean, they they they are a bad baseball team right now. They cannot get out of their own way. They can't. Like they're they're giving you nothing. This is a horrible stretch. Now, Mendoza comes out and he says that Steve Cohen gave him, quote, support of Tex. But you're talking about a New York market that's a rabbit fan base, that is a baseball town. New York is a baseball town, period. It's not a football town, it's not a basketball town, it's not a hockey town, it's a baseball town. Even if the Giants andor Jets are good, they'll own a little bit of the real estate in the winter, but they're still talking hot stove baseball. Just a bad baseball team right now. And the fact that Cohen came out and almost endorsed Mendoza, I don't know what to make of that. You lose 12 games in a row early on in the baseball season, managers don't last. I mean, you you gotta end it. This is a business, man. Come on, this guy was a longtime coach with the Yankees. Then you go across you go across town, now you're the manager in Queens. You know what happens when losing doesn't end. You're out of a frigging job. I mean, is Juan Soto all of a sudden coming off a capstring? Is he gonna be the difference maker? He's gonna be the catalyst. And as I as I said, there are multiple teams out there facing crisis right now. 25 games into the baseball season. This is a brutal start. A brutal start. Michael says Broncos Country let's ride. And do you fire the Mets manager now? I don't think they do. I honestly don't think they do. I think that because Cohen gave them that vote of confidence, they're gonna ride it out a little bit. But this is bad. 7 and 16 is not good baseball. Look, Houston's struggling. Kansas City is showing you they might be the worst team in baseball, along with the White Sox again. You just can't lose 12 games in a row and expect a manager to last. The problem is this this is not June, July, Michael. Right? This is not a 500 baseball team, you know, uh 45 and 38, and then you have a 12-game slide, but you're five games back under 500, and you still have 40 games to go, 50 games to go. You're talking about 23 games into the season, 23 games they've lost 16 of them, and 12 of them they lost in a row. And it's bad. Like they were not competitive against the athletics, their pitching was horrible, they had zero run support. They get swept, they got swept by the Dodgers, what else is new, and then they lost to the Cubs, and then again yesterday against the Twins. You know, Williams struggles. They're not getting anything from their staff, they're getting nothing, and they're getting nothing from their closer. Or their bullpen. It's bad. And the other thing is, if you put some shekels on the Mets, no team is made to playoffs after starting the season, pretty much 12 losses in a row. Not good. As I mentioned, can you get away with it August 10th to the 23rd, right? August 15th to the 30th, you know, uh July 25th to August 10th. Maybe depending upon, you know, are you in the playoffs? Do you have, you know, 60, 70 wins, 75 wins, 80 wins? Are you right there? You know, is it a bit of a lull? Did you just fire Skipper? Are you gonna fire a manager? Maybe get away with it. Managers don't survive with these types of starts. They just don't. And the Mets were in position to win that game. McLean retired the first 15, right? Lindor hits the three-run shot. You get the biggest lead since April 5th when you beat the Giants 5-2, and you just couldn't hold on to it. You you just couldn't hold on to the lead. And it always starts when you walk the leadoff man. And that's exactly what happened in the sixth. Or I believe they got a walk-off. I'm sorry, they got a um uh it was um who hit the single start? Um I apologize. Two outs later, they couldn't get the out, and then you get the home run, and the game's tied, and then you get the RBI single in the seventh. But point is it's a bad stretch. Well, I mean, yeah. I I mean that's you know that that can apply for a lot of uh, you know, the co-ins of the world. You know, you just get that wrench out there and just you know, you just start flipping out on people. Never a good thing. They had really bad L's. They had really bad L's, bad losses, but that's also the sign of a bad baseball team. It really is. It's a sign of a bad baseball team. And you better figure it out with that payroll and that fan base. Come on, man. Uh Robert Chimes in Key. No, I'm a big time Packers fan. You think they go offensive tackle? Uh, Packers definitely want to shore up their offensive line. Yeah, absolutely. Remember though, they had that trade because of uh the Parsons with Dallas. Um they're at though, they're probably gonna go defense. See, when you're when you're sitting there and you got like late first, second, mid-third, now you're just looking to clean up some holes, best available, right? That's the way I look at it. Uh what do we got there? Sox 16. Q. There's absolutely no way I want Corps to manage another game. They're 9 and 14, they're in last place in the AL East, and they're slipping. Now, here's my argument I would make if you are a Red Sox fan. This is my argument I make for Alex Corps. You're only five games back of the Yankees. You're only five games back. They extended him during 2024. He's only in the second year of that contract. I just don't see it. It makes sense, right? When a manager is not doing his job and you're struggling that bad. But again, I go back to look at the moves or lack thereof that the Boston Red Sox failed to make. They did not keep Bregman. He went to the Cubs. Okay. Cora, also what? Was a big time um, I guess you can say catalyst, guiding them to 2018 World Series title. They've gone to the postseason several more times. So I don't think you give up on him right now. Now, in baseball, the manager always gets blamed when the struggling, when the team is struggling. Thompson, Mendoza, Boston, Phillies, and the Mets, not good. And your your disdain, yeah, you get it at the players making hundreds of millions, but it always also comes down to the manager, the lineups, you know, pulling the pitcher when he shouldn't, shuffling the lineups, moving the guy in the you know, two hold and a three-hold and a four-hold and a three-hold. I get it, I understand all that. But I don't think firing Alex Corps right now masks what's going on, or uh it it will not solve your problems, right? The Mets, Cohen is one of those owners because he's a billionaire and he loves his toys and his money, you know, that could be a knee-jerk reaction. If this gets to 16, 17 straight losses, he might have no choice. Thompson, on the other hand, I think it's played out with the Philadelphia Phillies. This is a man that said a couple years ago he wanted to retire. You look at their payroll, you look at all their all-star caliber players and the talent that they have, and they should not be in this situation. And the problem is I also feel the Philadelphia Phillies window is closing because it is an old, older aging roster, right? Boston is a little different. You can only make the most of what you have to deal with. And if you go back, look at the roster construction of the Boston Red Sox. Like, if you're a Boston fan right now, a Boston fan, who do you have that's your true centerpiece to build upon and build around? Like the Yankees still have Judge. You know, the Phillies still believe it might be Harper. Now, is it is it is it Roman Anthony? But you can't you can't sit there and pin the fact that you lose Bregman on Alex Corps, you just can't. You just can't. So that's kind of where I'm at. Uh I'm wondering if the mentor would be better off in the T Ball League or maybe JVAA. Um they're not good right now, man, man. It is crazy though, right? In baseball, you can spend so much money uh on a roster, right? Because baseball, we know the salaries are just out of this world. They're just on another, they're on another level. I mean, if you think about the highest payrolls right now, okay, in baseball. We're talking about the highest markets. Obviously, the Dodgers have the highest payroll. It's over like$450 million. And the luxury tax is near$515. The Mets, the Yankees, 2-3, Toronto, the Phillies. I mean, you you can't be, you know, playing, you know, 336 baseball. That's just that's unacceptable. It's unacceptable. I think the Phillies are in trouble. I really do. I think they're in trouble. Their offense is always feast or famine. You can't trust Turner. At this point, Bryce Harper's not elite. He's just not. I'm sorry. He's not. I don't care if he has five home runs. Schwerber has eight home runs. He's feaster famine. You know, you you're gonna live with Garcia, young player, Alex Bohm. You're still trying to figure out. You got Marsh in the outfield. They just don't blow me away. They're batting 218 as a collective unit. That's horrible. They're open, they're they're all base percentage. The Phillies, I don't even think it's 300. And they're sluggings under 400. They can't score. They can't move guys over, they can't manufacture runs. Now, of course, as I say all this, because this is typically the kiss of death, watch they go on a friggin' run. Because that's usually what happens. Alright, don't forget, tomorrow, draft, right? And then we got uh NFL draft and we got NBA playoffs, Jonathan Marshall, Lloyd Vance. Uh Luca Brazzi peeks his head out. Do you think the Dodgers strategy to just be by these championships before MOB puts a salary cap in play? No, they want to win. That's not. I mean, they they got money, they spend money. That's that's all it is. They're a dynasty. The Dodgers are a dynasty. Now, do you think, you know, do they get an unfair advantage if you go back to that Otani contract, which is not talked about a lot. So you're talking about a franchise that's won back to back world championships. They play in one of the largest sports market. You got a historic stadium, it's going on all these extension renovations, right? Because now all of a sudden, um, Luca, what I'm doing is I I'm putting money in it because I want to have a desirable place to attract what? Agents. But if you dig a little deeper, the Dodgers have one of the most ahead of their time analytics, scouting, research departments, because they can identify right away minor league and major league talent. They are, when you talk about what the Dodgers have done over the last several years, they are so ahead of the curve. And they're also ahead of the curve when it comes to what? Contract deferrals. Which is smart. It's smart, man. And ain't cheating if you ain't trying. Right? And if you ain't trying, you ain't cheating. Like they realize they can take salaries in other states after retirement to save on taxes. Players can take their salaries in other states after retirement. You save on taxes. That basically means what? As an organization, as a franchise, as the Dodgers. Okay, now I can basically allow all these other um, you know, the uh uh the organization, the Dodgers, to pay very low luxury tax. And there's a reputation. Players love playing in LA, they love playing for the Dodgers. And they're constantly going to the postseason. So listen, if there's an advantage to be found, they found it, and it's showy Otani. I mean, you know, a unicorn, he's a cheat code. It's unbelievable what what he can do. But if you go back and you talk about the Otani rule, right? That's kind of like that, you know, unfair advantage. The Dodgers can carry an extra pitcher because Otani is treated differently. Two-way player doesn't count against 13 pitcher roster limits in baseball. I don't see a lot of people talking about that though. So they have been able to kind of you know curtail skirt, but they're smart. I mean, it it's it's a historic franchise. I think Mad Mad mentioned it two weeks ago. I think he mentioned it three games, four games into the season. I want to give him credit. Basically, bookmarked the Dodgers winning again. MOB is gonna get tired of Dodgers winning championships, put a cap on to even that field. They didn't care when the Yankees were doing it, or Boston, or San Francisco, when they had their little run. It's baseball, man. It's baseball. The players are meant to make the money that they're being paid. They are, and as long as you keep getting those broadcasting events, um I it's a soft cap, right? CBT. It's a competitive balance tax. They don't have a hard salary cap. And I don't think they're ever gonna have one. I just don't. One of the I've said I've I've said this for years. I remember uh this probably 2008. I'm on 1290 to tick into Delaware. I remember screaming at baseball fans. They were arguing with me that baseball didn't have the toughest union. Baseball has the toughest players union, and the CBA expires December 1st, 2026. So to your point, that's you're gonna have some heated, intense negotiations when you start to talk about a salary cap and a salary floor. Now, again to your point, I understand where it's coming from. If you have a cap, okay, or a I should say a cap with a floor, which is almost like jumbo shrimp, doesn't make sense, but you know where I'm going with this, that would improve parity in baseball. It wouldn't be such a top-heavy sport. You wouldn't have four or five teams every season winning well over 100, making a deep run in the postseason in October. And then everyone else is just trying to, you know, fall in line. But I don't believe it's going to happen because of um Major League Baseball's Player Association. It's it's just strongly, strongly opposed. They don't want that. They don't want a restriction on players' salaries, they want to make as much as they can. Now, I was reading on Reddit that baseball fans were arguing, I think it was like two weeks ago, I made a I put it in my email. I was very curious because they were going back and forth. That if you come out with a salary cap and a floor system to what's going on in other leagues, then maybe it increases overall play or pay. I I don't necessarily know yet. Um but these guys that are making their two, three, four hundred million, at this point, what do they care? It's gonna be a hard fight. It really is. And that's why I think this, you know, the negotiation, it's it's going to shape negotiations. It'll be interesting to watch. All right, tomorrow, draft. We'll knock that out. NBA playoffs, we'll get into that. You guys as well on a Thursday, Jonathan Marshall, Lloyd Bands. Don't forget to give us a follow at RichQ on Q on X N I G.
